DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Decatur Police and the McLean County Sheriff's Office are joining forces with Illinois State Police to crack down on human trafficking.

ISP is expanding its human trafficking enforcement group to Central Illinois and has asked Decatur Police to partner up in creating a task force in the region.

The Decatur City Council voted unanimously Monday night to support the plan.

Councilman David Horn said the effort on behalf of all parties is "greatly appreciated."

"Just want to say thank you to the Illinois State Police, Decatur Police Department and McLean County for their leadership in taking a proactive approach to stopping sex trafficking, or human trafficking," Horn said.
