Decatur transit driver wins award for safety

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Decatur transit driver Rosemary Miller has won a regional award for safety behind the wheel.

Miller was selected out of 15,000 drivers as the recipient of the Kathleen McClary Award which recognizes the safest operators at MV Transit.

Miller is the first driver in Decatur to win the award.

Randy Phipps, Lead Road Supervisor, told WAND News, "It's just the little things like helping people carry their groceries from one bus to another. I've seen her do that many times. I've seen her go up to the window and purchase a punch card for an elderly person that needed a ride."

Miller is now in the running to win the national award which will be announced Thursday, April 10.
