DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The man shot by Decatur police inside a building in downtown Decatur Wednesday has been identified.

Illinois State Police said the person is Michael Boliard of Decatur.

Wednesday, Decatur police said they were initially called to an area near East William Street and North Franklin Street for a person with a gun. That's when they found Boliard with a crossbow.

Police said Boliard pointed the crossbow at officers. He was shot by police and taken to a hospital for treatment.

Video from a bystander in downtown Decatur showed Boliard with a crossbow shortly before shooting. He could be seen getting out of his car and pointing the crossbow at a truck behind him.

The building where Boliard was shot houses Captain's Palace and the former Decatur City Taxi.

ISP is now handling the investigation, which is standard following a police shooting.

ISP said no other information was available on Friday. Decatur police had no updates when contacted by WAND News on Friday.

It's not clear if Boliard is still hospitalized or if he's expected to face any charges.

Police have not said how many officers fired their guns at Boliard or how many times he was struck by gunfire.

Wednesday's shooting prompted a lockdown at Decatur's transit center.
