CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — A night out on the town can also help homeless pets this summer at the Champaign County Humane Society (CCHS).
Every third Thursday this summer, a Champaign-area restaurant will donate a portion of proceeds to the animal-welfare nonprofit.
On June 20, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., The Axe Bar will donate 15% of proceeds including revenue from axe throwing. The event at Red Robin Gourmet Burgers on July 18, 2024, will run all day, from 11:00 a.m.to 11:00 p.m. The restaurant will donate 20% of proceeds to CCHS. Portillo's will also donate 20% of proceeds to CCHS during its "Dine to Donate" event on Aug. 15, 2024, between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
"Our animal shelter relies entirely on this community's generosity, so I love it when we can pair giving with a fun time out," said Elizabeth Young, Champaign County Humane Society Event Coordinator. "CCHS tries to offer a range of ways to fit philanthropy into your life, and we hope 'Dining to Donate' is an easy way to do it.”
Many restaurants have similar programs and work with a variety of causes. Each of the three participating restaurants requested to work with CCHS this Summer. Adam Jarmiolowski, Managing Partner for Champaign’s Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, highlighted his enthusiasm to participate, saying, “I must say I’m really excited for the fundraiser and being able to help animals in need. It’s a Purr-fect combination … delicious burgers and a great cause.”
