CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - Early voting in Champaign County has been delayed to Friday, March 14 instead of Wednesday due to a late filing of an amended ballot certification by a municipality.
"While this delay isn’t ideal, Clerk Ammons felt it was in the best interest of the voters and a fair, free, and accessible election to work with the municipality on these last-minute changes," the Champaign County Clerk and Recorder posted to Facebook.Â
Ballot certifications are what municipalities file with the Clerk’s office as the official language to go on the ballot for their jurisdiction.
Â
In a separate issue that was taken care of, the Champaign Unit 4 School District "vote for one" issue on the sample ballots has been resolved, and the sample ballots now says "vote for two".
Â
Brookens Administrative Center, 1776 E. Washington St. in Urbana will be open for early voting starting Friday, March 14, at 8:30 a.m.Â
