SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Just in time for spooky season, the 2025 Cemetery Walk returns to offer visitors a peek into the history of Springfield and Sangamon County.
Visit Springfield said "Echoes of Yesteryear: A Walk Through Oak Ridge Cemetery" will take place from noon to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5. Tours last about two hours, with the last tour of the afternoon beginning at 3 p.m.Â
According to the Sangamon County Historical Society, seven actors dressed in period costumes play figures who have contributed to the county's early history.Â
Actors will perform short personal stories at a respective gravesite to give the audience context and background to the person being portrayed.Â
The event is free and open to the public, with parking available in designated areas of the cemetery.Â
