DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - HSHS St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur is holding a women's health event.Â
"Think Pink: A Women's Health Event" will be held Thursday, Oct. 23 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The Hostetler, 241 N. Main St. in downtown Decatur.Â
The free event will focus on women's health and breast cancer awareness, featuring two local leaders, Dr. Nada Lygrisse, DO, of Lakeshore OB/GYN, and Lori Kerans, Vice President for Athletics and Community Engagement at Millikin University.Â
Dr. Lygrisse will share information on preventative care and the importance of early detection in saving lives. "When it comes to breast cancer, knowledge is truly power," said Dr. Lygrisse. "Regular screenings and understanding your risk factors are essential steps every woman can take to protect her health. Early detection not only saves lives, it gives women more options, more hope and more time."Â
Kerans will talk about women supporting one another in their health journeys. "Events like this remind us that women are at our best when we lift each other up," Kerans said. "Together, we can build a stronger, healthier community by encouraging one another to prioritize wellness and take proactive steps for our health."Â
There will be refreshments, giveaways, and chances to connect and discuss women's health and breast cancer prevention.Â
RSVP by Oct. 20 by calling (217) 464-7665. Space is limited.Â
