EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WAND)- A large-scale police and SWAT team exercise is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon in Effingham.

The hyper-realistic training procedures will take place along North Fourth Street from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. 

Nearby residents can expect to hear loud noises as law enforcement will be using special weapons and tactics to respond to mock scenarios.

The Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS) was established to address the needs of police departments throughout the state, enhancing public safety and aiding in the response to dangerous situations.
