CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - The Champaign Public Library and Champaign Park District are hosting the annual Juneteenth Celebration.Â
The event will be on Saturday, June 13, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Douglass Park campus.Â
There will be live music, dancing, food trucks, pick-up basketball games, a scavenger hunt, giant yard games, giveaways, Douglass Branch Library Makerspace demos, and more.Â
There will be community vendors and nonprofit resources available throughout the event.Â
The Champaign Park District will also host a free Juneteenth concert on Friday, June 19, at 6 p.m. also at Douglass Park.Â
Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the abolition of slavery in the United States.Â
