Christmas tree

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The holiday season is approaching, and Macon Resources (MRI) invites individuals, groups, and businesses to participate in their annual Secret Santa program.

Each year, this event brings joy to over 80 individuals with developmental disabilities who live in one of MRI’s nine group homes or independently within the community.

“Secret Santa is one of my favorite programs of the year,” said Amy Bliefnick, President/CEO of Macon Resources. “We have been blessed with an outpouring of support at this time of year, and it truly makes the holidays memorable. For the people we serve, just knowing that someone is thinking of them and wishing them a Merry Christmas is impactful.”

Ways to Participate

Community members can get involved in two ways:

1. Adopt a Person Served

Fulfill a simple “wish list” for an MRI participant via the organization’s website.

MRI asks that each Secret Santa purchase at least two presents and spend a minimum of $50 per individual.

Unwrapped gifts should be dropped off at Macon Resources by December 4, 2025, or earlier if possible. MRI staff will wrap the gifts and ensure delivery on Christmas morning.

2. Make a Monetary Donation

Community members can also donate online or by mail, allowing MRI staff to shop on their behalf.

New this year are Christmas sponsors.

Businesses can make a $250 donation to become official Secret Santa Christmas Sponsors, receiving recognition on MRI’s social media and mentions throughout the holiday season, helping to make an even bigger impact.
