MATTOON, Ill. (WAND) - Mattoon Restaurant Week is set for August 3 through 9.
The Coles County Compass and The Broadway District have again joined forces for the second annual Experience Mattoon Restaurant Week. The goal is to promote and support locally-owned restaurants.
The Coles County Compass is a mission of Rural King's Foundation for Rural America.
“Last year’s Mattoon Restaurant Week was such a fun way to unite our community,” Broadway District Founder, Angela Hampton said. “This event gives our locally-owned restaurants an opportunity to show off their most delicious creations to customers new and old.”
Ten local restaurants will be participating this year, including: Alamo Steakhouse & Saloon, Emerald Acres Courtside Cafe, Holey Moley Daylight Donuts, Hubbartt’s Downtown Diner, La Luna Mexican Restaurant, Mattoon Ginger Ale’s, Taco Amigos, Tap 45 at Defense Depot, Warren James Winery, and Villa Pizza.
Some restaurants will offer a limited time Prix Fixe menu. Others will have special edition menu items or discounts.
“Our local restaurant owners work hard every day to feed our community and unite us around the table,” Hampton said. “It’s our hope that these delicious specials and discounts will incentivize our community members to try something new and to support their favorite local restaurants.”
During Experience Mattoon Restaurant Week, visitors who take a photo of their meal at participating restaurants and share it to social media with #ExperienceMattoon or #MattoonRestaurantWeek will be entered to win one of several gift cards to those restaurants at the end of the week.
Participants can pick up a free Restaurant Week Passport at any participating location and have it stamped when they make any purchase at participating restaurants during the week.
Those who visit all ten locations can turn their completed passport into the Mattoon Chamber of Commerce office and will receive $10 in Chamber Bucks that can be spent at many local businesses.
