DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — A new therapeutic resource is trotting into the Decatur area — and the community is invited to help celebrate.

Freedom Reins, a horse therapy organization dedicated to improving the lives of children, is opening a brand-new facility in Decatur.

The Decatur Regional Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 4:30 PM to officially welcome the organization to the community.

Freedom Reins specializes in equine-assisted therapy, using horse interactions to promote physical, emotional, and mental well-being in children. The organization’s highly trained instructors hold professional degrees and certifications in equine therapeutic modalities, with a mission to focus on the whole child.

The event will feature a meet & greet with the therapy horses, free lesson giveaways, facility tours, and light refreshments.

The new location represents a significant step forward for Freedom Reins, which hopes to make equine therapy more accessible for families across Central Illinois.

Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend the ribbon cutting, meet the team, and learn more about the benefits of horse therapy.
