DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - We are over halfway through the season, and many local organizations are preparing for end-of-summer bashes.

The City of Decatur and the Coalition of Neighborhood Organizations are hosting the 42nd annual National Night Out event from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Johns Hill Park.

The theme for this year's event is "No Time for Crime," and free activities will include food, games, a foam/bubble party, prizes, face painting, a bounce house, a “touch-a-truck” display, a mobile zoo, DJ and appearances from local police and fire department officials.

A special award will also be given in recognition of two deserving Neighborhood Ambassadors.

Over 38 million people in 17,000 communities nationwide are expected to participate in "America's Night Out against Crime" festivities.
