SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — Gov. JB Pritzker at a press conference said he's heard nothing from President Trump about deportations in Chicago.
The windy city has been the target of the Trump administration since he won the election, with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) planning a major enforcement operation to begin the mass deportations the new president promised on the campaign trail.

Pritzker is worried about the future of these communities, saying immigrants are scared of the new administrations plans.
"These are people who have raised families in the United States who are law abiding and often the anchors of their communities," Pritzker said. "We should think very carefully about what immigration means to this country."
The Democrat made his position clear on violent undocumented migrants saying they should be deported, but is a supporter of immigration reform in the U.S.
Across Chicago, many immigrants have skipped work or school afraid they will be arrested and deported in the coming days.
This also comes after Trump signed an executive order allowing federal agents to arrest immigrants in sensitive locations such as schools and churches.
The President signed another executive order that would ban birthright citizenship which Pritzker said is currently protected by the 14th Amendment.Â
"That's unconstitutional," Pritzker said. "We will not be following an unconstitutional executive order we will follow the law."
Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul filed a lawsuit against the birthright executive order alongside other Democrat-majority states.
