SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Sangamon County Toy for Tots held its inaugural kickoff event for the 2025 campaign in Springfield Saturday.

The event will ran from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, in the Scheels parking lot on S. MacArthur Blvd.

There was a 16-foot white box truck, a canopy display, and Toys for Tots merchandise and materials for participating locations.

Organizers said the need for toys continues to grow each year.

"In the Sangamon County area we helped 8,112 families last year and gave out around 16,000 toys, so the need is high," said Master Sergeant Bill Lee. "Those toys come from these boxes. Those businesses in this community really come through for us."
