DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Scovill Zoo staff were hard at work getting the zoo ready for opening day on Friday.
Staff said guests enjoyed the beautiful weather, riding the train and carousel, enjoying snacks and getting up close to the goats at the petting zoo.
Scovill Zoo Director Heather Purdeu said going to the zoo is a great way for families to be together outdoors.
"It's a great way for families to come out and spend some quality time together, and again, building those connections with nature, they're up close, they're able to see, they're out in the fresh air, they're able to ride the train together," Purdeu said.
The zoo is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.
