Smack'n Tacos opens brick-and-mortar restaurant

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Thursday afternoon, a ribbon cutting helped open the new Smack'n Tacos Taqueria & Bar.

Smack'n Tacos has been a local food truck for about four years.

"I opened up my first food truck in 2020 during COVID, which was a hassle, but I managed to do it and managed to stay open," said Marcos Fuentes, Smack'n Tacos' Owner. "That means we worked hard and we provided great food and service."

While Fuentes is passionate about making great food, it's the service of people that he really loves.

"I love servicing people," Fuentes noted. "I like making them welcome and them leaving happy, so that's more of my passion, it's providing that service to people. Food is just the bonus. I'm just really good at it."

For those that fell in love with the food truck, you're going to have to go into the restaurant for the same tacos now.

Fuentes sold the old Smack'n Tacos food truck recently, but has something new in the works.

"We just purchased another 20-foot truck and we're going to put a brand new kitchen in there and we're going to create another food truck ... coming this summer."

The new restaurant is at 546 N Brush College Rd, Decatur, IL 62521.
