DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — The Avon Theater celebrates 108 years of bringing the film to the Decatur community.
On November 28, 1916, a large crowd filled the Avon Theater.
In a social media post on Facebook, the theater posted that even after two world wars and two pandemics, the theater stands tall, adding, "The Avon may show its age in some ways, but it’s a community landmark that survives, and even inspires."
The locally owned Decatur theater is having its Thanksgiving Tightwad Thursday unique, where you can see all available shows for just $5. Shows start at 7:00 p.m., and doors open at 6:00 p.m. Moana 2, Gladiator 2, and Wicked all show the evening of November 28, 2024.
