DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) – The Decatur Park District unveiled a revitalized Garfield Park on Tuesday. It was a $1.5 million project turning the aging park into a modern facility.
“Garfield Park was rundown,” said Decatur Park District Executive Director Clay Gerhard. “We’ve created a new pavilion, new playground, a new interactive wall, new basketball courts, a walking path. All sorts of things for people in the community to do.”
The park has also added a parking lot. Security cameras have also been installed to add extra protection.
Garfield Park is now open and is expected to draw kids and families alike.
