MAROA, Ill. (WAND) - A person who died after a two-vehicle crash near Maroa Thursday afternoon has been identified. 

The Maroa Police Department said that officers responded to a crash involving a commercial vehicle and a small passenger vehicle just after 4 p.m. at the intersection of South Wood Street and Route 51.

Maroa police stated that there was a "severely injured" driver at the scene. The driver of the smaller vehicle, later identified by the Macon County Coroner as 69-year-old Mary Alice Cunningham of Forsyth, died as a result of the crash.

The intersection was closed for several hours as emergency crews cleaned up the scene. 

The investigation is ongoing.
