DALTON CITY, Ill. (WAND) — A man is dead after crashing into farm equipment near Dalton City Thursday night.
The Macon County Sheriff's Office responded to an accident on 85th Street near Gosnell Road around 7 p.m.
Deputies said a tractor towing an anhydrous tank was driving southbound on 85th with the anhydrous applicator still extended into the northbound lane. A vehicle driven by 51-year-old Thomas Dueker of Tuscola was driving northbound and crashed into the applicator.
Dueker was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the anhydrous tanks were not compromised and they did not identify an hazardous conditions.
The tractor driver was cited for improper lane usage. Police said they could add charges after an investigation by the Macon County State's Attorney.
