PANA, Ill. (WAND) - A 13-year-old boy who was hit and killed after being struck by a car in Pana Monday night has been identified.Â
The Pana Police Department said it happened just after 9:30 p.m. in the 500 block of South Poplar Street.Â
Police arrived to find the boy, identified by the Christian County Coroner's Office as Shelden Conway, dead in the road, with a car driven by a 16-year-old girl stopped in front of him.Â
During an investigation, Pana police said the car slowed to a stop before beginning to pull away as Conway tried to get back into the car.Â
He was then hit by the car as it pulled forward. The driver immediately stopped to call 911.Â
The crash is still under investigation.Â
