DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - One dog was killed in a house fire in Decatur. Firefighters were able to rescue a second dog. 

There was someone at the house, but the Decatur Fire Department says they got out safely.

Firefighters were called to the 400 block of S. Boyd St. at 3:30 a.m. Thursday. 

Heavy fire was coming from the second story windows of the home when crews arrived. 

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire. They pulled two dogs from the home. One did not survive. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Decatur Fire Department and OSFM.
