(WAND) - Six games across four classes featured programs from across central Illinois. In four of the matchups, the brackets pitted area teams head-to-head for a chance to advance to the state semifinals.

Action throughout Saturday has set up what will be a thrilling semifinal round where multiple programs can clinch a spot in the state championship game.

Here's a recap of the quarterfinal games featuring area programs:

Class 1A | (1) Calhoun-Hardin: 28, (4) Casey-Westfield: 21

A neck and neck battle through three quarters of play would come down to the wire between two disciplined offenses. The Warriors led 14-13 at half and would trade scores with Calhoun again in the third quarter. Tied at 21 with less than 8-minutes remaining, Calhoun faked a punt on 4th & 2 for a big gain, switching the field. They would go on to score what would be the game-winning touchdown later on the drive. Casey-Westfield ends their season with a record of 9-3.

Class 2A | (9) Maroa-Forsyth: 48, (4) Flora: 12

For the second-straight week, the Trojan offense has scored 40+ points on a higher-seeded opponent. The Maroa-Forsyth offense and defense fed off one another, with the offense generating points early and often, while the defense forced a total of 3 turnovers in the game. Quarterback Ryne Sheppard threw for 4 touchdowns, helping qualify the team for its fourth consecutive appearance in the state semifinals.

Class 2A | (3) ALAH: 42, (2) Westville: 35

Westville carried a 28-14 lead into the half behind a potent ground attack. The teams reached a stalemate in the third quarter with neither team putting points on the board. After scoring at the start of the fourth frame, the Knights went for the onside kick and recovered. The ALAH offense drove the length of the field to tie the game with just over 6-minutes remaining. Both the Tigers and Knights would match each other blow-for-blow in the late stages, but a forced fumble recovered by ALAH helped them put the final points on the board. The Knights will host Maroa-Forsyth with the winner going to the state title.

Class 3A | (14) St. Joseph-Ogden: 38, (2) Vandalia: 24

Despite narrowly making the postseason with a 5-4 record, the Spartans continue to prove they have a lot of fight left with every opponent they take the field against. Vandalia showed their toughness early in the game jumping out to a 14-7 lead following a 76-yard touchdown catch by Kohnor Depew. A Vandals field goal as the half expired kept them out front at halftime 21-17. The Spartans would then outscore the #2 seed 21-3 in the second half, with a late interception in the fourth quarter helping set up SJO for the victory.

Class 3A | (4) Tolono Unity: 42, (1) Williamsville: 7

The Rockets launched out to a 35-0 lead at halftime thanks to the play of quarterback Dane Eisenmenger. The University of Central Missouri commit threw for multiple 60+ yard touchdowns in the first half. The Bullets offense had success moving the ball, but had difficulty finishing drives in the early phases of the game. A late Williamsville touchdown showed that they would end their season with pride, but Unity handed the #1 seed their lone loss of the season. Tolono will meet their Illini Prairie rival, SJO in the 3A semifinal.

Class 4A | (3) Rochester: 41, (10) Sacred Heart-Griffin: 35 - Overtime

A true back-and-forth football game, no team led by more than a single score throughout the entire contest. At the end of the first half, an interception by the Cyclones ended the driving Rockets' hopes of doubling up on potential points, as they would receive the second half kickoff. The game continued to be a chess match into the final minutes. Rochester would attempt a 37-yard field goal with seconds remaining, but the kick was no-good hitting off the left upright. Tied at 35, the teams went to overtime where SHG took first possession. The Rockets defense brought pressure and forced an interception in the endzone. As Rochester took over, the team chipped away at the Cyclone defense, eventually running in the game-winning score to knock out their CS8 foe.
