DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) -- The MacArthur Generals look to carry their momentum from last season into this year after making it to the playoffs.
Heading into week one they are working on the basics and fundamentals to improve on mistakes from last year.
Head coach Derek Spates said to get more wins they have to be successful in all three aspects of the game.
"Just talking, talking situations of guys and trying to recall things that happened last year, whether they were positive or negative, just learn from the things we did last year and apply it," Spates said. "When you're a you're older and you know, in the program, just push the guys, continue pushing them, continue developing them, continue to make sure they understand the things that we need to do offensively, defensively and special teams to be successful."
And whether its on or off the field the Generals are building a family culture to be a well oiled machine on game day.
MacArthur opens up their season on the road week one Friday August 21 against Mattoon.
