MOUND TOWNSHIP, Ill. (WAND) - Two people were taken to the hospital after a crash in Mound Township Saturday afternoon.Â
The Effingham County Sheriff's Office said a vehicle driven by a 37-year-old Edgewood man mas going south on IL Highway 128Â and was stopped at a stop sign at U.S. Highway 40.Â
A vehicle driven by a 25-year-old woman from Vandalia was going east on U.S. Highway 40 at the same intersection.Â
Deputies said the Edgewood man waited for a westbound vehicle to clear the intersection and then went south through the intersection.Â
The driver from Vandalia tried to slow down to avoid the crash, but hit the Edgewood driver.Â
Both were taken to the hospital.Â
The driver from Edgewood was cited for failure to yield.Â
