A tornado watch is in place across much of central Illinois until 10 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2026.

(WAND) — The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for most of central Illinois Sunday.

A watch has been issued for 29 counties across central and southern Illinois until 10 p.m. CT.

NWS said tornadoes are possible, and scattered damaging winds are likely, with isolated gusts of up to 75 miles per hour possible.

The WAND Weather Team has been expecting severe weather for several days. A slight/enhanced risk for severe storms is in place across the region.

Following the storms, temperatures are expected to drop in the low 20's overnight, with a round of snow showers expected into Monday morning.
