EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WAND) - Walmart in Effingham was evacuated Monday evening following a reported shooting threat.
The Effingham Police Department said officers responded to Walmart around 9 p.m. Monday after an unknown man called the store and threatened to come there to shoot people.
Police responded immediately to search the store and the area nearby.
Walmart management also closed the store for the rest of the night, while EPD helped to evacuate workers.
Effingham police did not find anything inside, and no suspects were arrested.
Additionally, police stated that similar calls were reported at other Walmarts in Illinois over the past month.
The threat is under investigation, and no other information is available.
