DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Hospitals, medical facilities and ambulance services are facing the same dilemma: a lack of qualified people to fill jobs.

Abbott EMS is faced with a similar situation trying to hire qualified EMTs and paramedics. Thursday, Abbott will be holding a job fair to attract more potential job candidates. They are offering competitive wages and some bonuses.
“If you live outside of Macon County, if you come here, we’ll pay you $10,000 as a relocation bonus,” said Abbott Operations Manager Shaun Rapp. “In addition, we’ll give you an additional $10,000 as a hire-on bonus.”
The job fair is Thursday October 24, 2024 from 9 am to 11 am at Workforce Investment Solutions, 757 West Pershing Road, Decatur, Illinois 62526.
