SHELBY COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - Area businesses are doing what they can to support the families of three young teenagers who were killed in a UTV crash in Shelby County.Â
The girls are 14-year-old Sienna Bostedo from Mode, 13-year-old Karly Wetherall from Stewardson, and 14-year-old Edie Wittenberg from Strasburg.
The crash happened at 1200 N 3150E around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Troopers said a 2022 Polaris UTV with the three girls collided with a 2006 International Truck Tractor Grain Hauler as it was traveling east on County Road 1200N.
All three were incoming Stew-Stras freshman.Â
Sarah Bush Lincoln posted to Facebook that its roof will be lit up in Stewardson-Strasburg High School colors, green, white and blue through the weekend, in honor of the girls.Â
Crazy 8's BBQ based out of Casey said they will have their BBQ trailer and a lemon shake-up stand at the EffingHAM-JAM. The stand will be run by teammates from the Mattoon Pride Gilbert 14U softball team. All proceeds and donations will be given to families impacted by the tragedy. Those who cannot make it to the event are encouraged to send money via Venmo to @bgilbert221 to donate.Â
WAND will be speaking with the owner of Crazy 8's BBQ Friday morning about their fundraising efforts.Â
Spanky's Bar-n-Grill in Mattoon is also raising money for the families. They will have donation buckets out through July 19.Â
Iced cafe and bakery in Shelbyville posted they are taking preorders for cinnamon rolls by the dozen for $25. All tips and proceeds will go to the families impacted. Pickup will be Saturday 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. You can call them or comment your order on their Facebook page.Â
