Tricia Campbell, a teacher at Mount Pulaski High School, made it to the top five of "America's Favorite Teacher" contest voting.

MOUNT PULASKI, Ill. (WAND) — A Logan County teacher is in the running for the national "America's Favorite Teacher" contest.

Tricia Campbell, a teacher at Mount Pulaski High School, made it to the top five of contest voting.

The contest website said "America's Favorite Teacher" honors the teachers who inspire, mentor, and shape the future every day. Teachers across the U.S. and most parts of Canada can participate.

The grand prize includes $25,000, a trip to Hawaii, a feature in Reader's Digest, and a school assembly with Bill Nye the Science Guy.

In her voter bio on the contest website, Campbell said she working with students changed her. She said she would use the prize money to fund her daughter's graduate school doctor of physical therapy program.

Voters get one free vote. Additional votes can be made by donating to the Planetary Society.
