SOUTH FORK TOWNSHIP, Ill. (WAND) — Early Friday morning, a deputy in Edgar County shot a man armed with a rifle after a confrontation, according to a Facebook post by their department.
They said that on Friday morning, Edgar Country Sheriff's Office deputies arrived near East 1575th Rd. and N. 600 East Rd. in rural South Fork Township to address a trespassing complaint.
The deputies said they found a man armed with a rifle. During what they say was a confrontation, a deputy discharged their weapon, hitting the man.
According to the post, the man shot was given lifesaving measures by first responders and transported to a local hospital by helicopter, where he remains receiving care.
Also, according to the post, no deputies were hurt.
The Illinois State Police are handling the investigation.
