JACKSONVILLE, IL- The water conservation and boil order for Jacksonville water customers will remain in effect longer than expected.

City leaders had hoped the water treatment plant would be back up and operational by the end of this week. However, the plant has only produced a minimal amount of chlorinated water, so the boil order will continue into next week.

Boil orders also remain in effect for the Scott Morgan Green (SMG) Water Cooperative, the Murrayville Woodson Water Commission and the Alexander Rural Water District.

Conservation and boil orders for the villages of Manchester and Franklin have now been lifted.

The Jacksonville Water Treatment Plant has been shut down since being flooded by heavy rain on June 18th.
