PRINCETON, Ill. (WAND) — The case of a missing Champaign man whose body was found in Bureau County is now being investigated as a homicide.

Coroner Alexandria Wamhoff confirmed that the remains of 20-year-old Jaylyon Anthony Rucker were initially found in June near the Cherry Mine in Cherry, Ill. An autopsy was performed, but the level of decomposition made identification difficult.

After multiple examinations and DNA analysis, the coroner's office was able to identify Rucker.

Rucker was reported as missing earlier this year.

The Bureau County Sheriff, James B. Reed, told WAND News, "Jaylyon Rucker's death was a homicide and is currently still under investigation.  My investigators and I have determined that the release of any other information could be detrimental to the investigation.  There is no further information I can share at this time."
