Celebrate Sound this weekend with the Sertoma Club Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, ILL. (WAND)- Celebrate sound with the Sertoma Club of Springfield.

On Saturday, October 5th, the Sertoma Club will host its 10th annual fundraiser walk to promote hearing health.

The walk will take place at Washington Park in Springfield. Check-in starts at 9 a.m. and the walk kicks off at 9:30 a.m.

The organization is celebrating 70 years in the community.

Over those years, the Sertoma Club of Springfield has raised money for several local organizations and city projects, scholarships and more.

Their goal is to continue to increase awareness of the need to protect the gift of hearing and more to help the community.

"We started in 1954 and our focus is to raise awareness for hearing health. We raise money to provide the funds for scholarships, for hearing aids, for low-income seniors and for a lot of other community projects," said Diane Long, President of Sertoma Club Springfield.
