DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — A correctional officer with the Macon County Sheriff's Office was arrested in Decatur Tuesday after police said he was driving drunk.
According to the Macon County Sheriff's Office (MCSO), 46-year-old James Davis was arrested by the Decatur Police Department for driving under the influence of alcohol, resisting or obstructing a peace officer and aggravated battery to a peace officer.
MCSO said it happened at the Circle K gas station on West Eldorado Street just before 12 a.m.Â
Davis was taken to the Macon County Jail, where he was processed and released with a notice to appear, police said. His initial court date is set for April 14.
The sheriff's office said Davis has been employed with them as a correctional officer since October 2000. He has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation, MCSO said.Â
