CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — On Saturday, Champaign Police went to a house across the street from Centennial High School after being told there was a man there suffering from stab wounds.
Joe Lamberson with Champaign Police told WAND News that police arrived around 11:28 a.m. near Crescent Drive and Johns Avenue in Champaign after being informed that an armed individual was in the area.
Lamberson said once there, police found a man with a stab wound, gave him medical aid, and had the man transported to a local hospital. The man is hospitalized but is stable.
Officers said they found a person they believe was responsible for the stabbing in the area while treating the individual stabbed. They arrested the suspect and transported him to the Champaign County Correctional Facility.
Lamberson added that this is an ongoing investigation. If anyone has information, they are asked to contact CPD at 217-351-4545 or Crime Stoppers at 217-373-8477 (TIPS).
They remind the public that everyone is innocent until proven guilty.
