HOMER, Ill. (WAND) — A fire is under investigation in Homer.
The Homer Fire Protection District posted on Facebook Saturday, thanks to a quick response from multiple departments, they could put out a fire at the Consolidated Grain & Barge Co., a grain elevator in Homer.Â
According to HFPD, after a bearing went bad on a conveyor belt at the elevator it caught fire. The conveyor belt transports the corn brought in to the train cars.
This happened on Saturday afternoon.
The crew said the fire was a close call, but they were able to put it out quickly.
HFPD estimates the damages to be around $10,000. No one was hurt.
