DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Firefighters responded to a house fire early Monday morning next to the Oglesby Mansion in Decatur's Historic District.

The Decatur Fire Department was called to a building in the 400 block of West William Street around 3:30 a.m., where crews found heavy flames coming through the roof.

Firefighters initially entered the building, working their way to the upper floors where they found significant fire. As conditions worsened, crews were pulled out for safety and switched to fighting the fire from outside using aerial equipment.

Additional crews helped bring the fire under control and searched the building for anyone inside. No injuries have been reported.

Firefighters also prevented the flames from spreading to the nearby historic Oglesby Mansion, which was not damaged.

Crews remained on scene for several hours to fully extinguish the fire. The cause is still under investigation.
