DECATUR, Ill. (WAND)- The Macon County Coroner has identified a man who police said took his own life in a Decatur murder-suicide.

Decatur Police found a couple shot to death Tuesday morning.

According to the Decatur Police Department, officers responded to a welfare check and found a 39-year-old male and a 38-year-old female deceased in an apartment located in the 2400 block of Country Trails at approximately 9:25 a.m.

After further investigation, police learned the two individuals were in a dating relationship.

The Macon County Coroner identified the woman as 38-year-old Tiffany Ware. She died of a single gunshot wound to the head. 

The man was identified as 39, Torryle D. Bennett of Waukegan. The coroner said he also died from a single gunshot wound to the head. 

Police said Ware was shot, and Bennett's gunshot wound was self-inflicted. 

Officers conducted a neighborhood canvas while Detectives processed the scene.

Detectives located multiple shell casings and a firearm inside the apartment where the deceased was located.
