SPRINGFIELD - Crime Stoppers of Sangamon & Menard Counties have increased the cash reward for information leading to an arrest or arrests in a 2003 double homicide.

Springfield police say they received two 9-1-1 calls on the evening of August 1, 2003, reporting that a female had been shot at 1315 East Cook Street.  Firefighters and paramedics arriving at the scene say they found a female, identified as Shameka Wright, 23, who had sustained multiple wounds to her face and upper body.

Springfield police officers say they conducted a protective sweep of the crime scene, and found a male, identified as Jared Womack, dead in a bathtub from multiple gunshot wounds.  Police say officers also found multiple shell casings at the crime scene, and police believe the crimes were committed by multiple assailants.
