CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — A 16-year-old boy who died after being shot early Saturday morning, has been identified.Â
The Champaign County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Trai’Vvone A. Wesley, of Champaign.
According to the Champaign Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire shortly after midnight in the 2000 block of Cynthia Drive. When officers arrived, they found Wesley suffering from a gunshot wound.
Wesley was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Investigators said evidence collected at the scene indicates multiple shots were fired during the incident. Police also reported property damage in the area as a result of the gunfire.
No arrests have been announced, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Police are looking for witnesses and surveillance footage from nearby residents and businesses.
