SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Four people were arrested after the Springfield Police Department conducted drug and firearm investigations across the city. 

The Springfield Police Pro Active Crime Unit conducted several recent investigations related to narcotics trafficking. Those investigations led to several search warrants being granted by the courts for a search of several properties. 

On May 7, members of the Pro-Active Crime Unit executed a search warrant in the 1000 block of S 25th St. During the search, officers said they found drug packaging materials, a firearm, drug scales and approximately 

18 grams of suspected crack cocaine.

Dontrell Young, 23 from Springfield, was arrested for manufacture / delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm – no FOID – ineligible. 

On May 11, members of the Pro-Active Crime Unit executed a search warrant in 2000 block of E Stuart St. A search of this property yielded probable cause for a subsequent search warrant at a storage unit as well, police said. In total, this investigation led to the recovery of 6 firearms (1 of which was stolen), approximately 4.3 grams of suspected fentanyl, approximately 1.3 grams of suspected crack cocaine, a significant amount of firearm ammunition and $10,073 US currency.

Darren Damerell (male, 36 years old from Springfield)

• Unlawful Possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

Devonee Gray (male, 53 years old from Springfield 

• Armed Violence

• Possession of a Controlled Substance

Taurus Chapman (male, 20 years old from Springfield)

• Manufacture / Delivery of a Controlled Substance 

• Armed Violence

• Possession of a Stolen Firearm

• Possession of a Controlled Substance

• Possession of Firearm – No FOID
