URBANA, Ill. (WAND) - A former University of Illinois police officer was found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in September 2018.
Champaign County court records show that Jerald Sandage was convicted on two counts of criminal sexual assault Wednesday.Â
According to charging documents, Sandage had sex with a woman on Sept. 22, 2018, while knowing that she was unable to give consent.Â
Sandage resigned from UIPD in February 2020 while he was under investigation for alleged sexual misconduct. He was later arrested on criminal sexual assault and abuse charges in April of that year.Â
Court records also show that Sandage currently has three other pending sexual assault cases in Champaign County.
He will be sentenced on June 12.Â
