Police arrest sentenced (C)

URBANA, Ill. (WAND) – A Rantoul man has been indicted on federal charges after prosecutors said he threatened to injure U.S. military personnel and their families.

Kevin Baskis, 37, was indicted Tuesday on two counts of making threatening interstate communications.

The indictment alleges Baskis made phone calls from Rantoul to Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, on June 29 and 30. Prosecutors said the calls included threats against military personnel and their families.

Baskis was arrested July 1 and remains in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service. U.S. Magistrate Judge Eric I. Long ordered him detained pending trial.

If convicted, Baskis faces up to five years in prison, a $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release on each count.
