DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A man has been arrested on charges of Aggravated Criminal Abuse and Criminal Sexual Assault in Decatur.Â
Shytez Cook is accused of assaulting a young girl under the age of 13. The alleged assault was discovered after the girl was found to be pregnant.Â
Decatur police were called to the hospital on April 15 after the girl told her step-mother and grandmother the father was over 18.Â
Police spoke with the step-mother who said the girl told her Cook had been touching her since she was 8. She said the assaults took place in her room and sometimes other areas of the house.Â
While on a phone call with the girl's father, step-mother, and grandmother, Cook reportedly did not deny the allegations and said he was "f***** up on pills."Â
The victim told police Cook would repeatedly rape her when he was in the house, including when he babysat her and other children there.Â
The victim decided to have an abortion. The fetus was sent to the ISP crime lab in Springfield for DNA testing.Â
Cook was denied pre-trial release.Â
