CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — An arrest has been made in a shooting in Champaign that left an 18-year-old injured Tuesday night. 

The Champaign Police Department responded to the 100 block of North Mattis Avenue just before 7 p.m. for a report of a shooting.

That is near Schnucks located in Champaign Commons.

Officers said they found an 18-year-old man a few blocks away from the incident that had been shot.

The victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

After investigation, Champaign police said the 18-year-old was in a parking lot when someone started shooting. After being shot, the man got in a vehicle and left. Police found him in the 700 block of Country Fair Drive.

Police said they learned a 16-year-old was the shooter. He ran away after the shooting. Champaign police arrested in April 30 in Champaign. The suspect's name will not be released due to his age.
