DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — Police are investigating an early morning shooting that left a woman injured Sunday in Danville.

According to Danville Police Department, officers responded around 3:36 a.m. on March 29 to the 1600 block of Beechwood Drive following reports of shots fired.

When officers arrived, they found a 25-year-old woman who had been shot in her leg. She was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where she is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators say a large gathering had taken place in the area shortly before the shooting occurred. No suspects have been taken into custody at this time.

Police continue to actively investigate the incident, reviewing witness statements and any available video footage.
