Decatur FD contains fire at Primient

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — The Decatur Fire Department was on the scene at Primient on Monday afternoon.

A representative from the company confirmed that a flash fire occurred around 4:15 p.m. in the Decatur plant. The flames were isolated to the feed house unit operation.

Decatur Fire said that upon arriving at the scene, fire crews found minor damage to the building and "a few small spot fires on the roof and the main level." Crews quickly extinguished the spot fires on the main level while a second unit was positioned on the viaduct and extinguished the fire on the roof. All fire units were back in service within an hour of arriving.

No one was injured and no other unit operations experienced any disruption at the plant.

A team from Primient is assessing the area and working to establish a root cause.
