DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A Decatur man was killed in a crash on U.S. 36 on Christmas Day, according to the Decatur Police Department.
First responders were called to U.S. 36 near the bridge over Lake Decatur around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Decatur Police Department Spokesman Sgt. Steve Hagemeyer said an 87-year-old man was in a pickup truck and went off the road and hit two utility poles and a sign. The pickup then crossed all lanes of the road and hit two more utility poles before coming to a stop.
The driver was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. The name of the driver has not been released.
Police said drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
No other injuries were reported.
The crash is under investigation by DPD's Fatal Accident Investigation Team.
